small town living

September 30, 2009

You know lately the whole facebook thing has just gotten sad to me. I believe it is for a network of friends, people to stay in touch, and see how their families grow and change. Almost, sort of a way to be able to peek in on peoples lives without always having to call. Lately the negative comments are out of control. I can see how people view the internet as evil since all it’s used for lately is to bitch. We’ve all been the victim of small town gossip before and deffinatley know the ups and downs of living in such a small tight knit community. But I just want to say that the same small communities that gossip a little too much at times are also the ones that pull together in times of need. I’ve experienced things like this first hand. I’ve lost both parents and a husband and if it weren’t for having a place like this to call home, I don’t know where I’d be. Everyones prayers and kindness never go forgotten or unapreciated. But it always seems to be the negative things people talk about and hang on to. I mean really, are those things that important. If it weren’t for the people in an outrage who repeat these things, they’d die out quicker. Why give them any attention at all. This is a good little community. It may not be perfect, but it’s heart is in the right place. God forbid anything life altering actually happen to put things into perspective for you all. Don’t sweat the small stuff, cuz that’s exactly what it is. Small. Yeah for the small towns where kids can ride to the neighbors or the park to play safely. They can go to school without metal detectors and guards, and drugs aren’t infested in our streets for our pre-teens. I like it here, it’s always been home to me. Thank you small town for all you have to offer!

back to school

September 17, 2009

Well another school year is in full swing. Back to early bed times and homework and rush rush rush to get everything done. I truely didn’t appreciate my own mother until having children of my own to run after. I hope I’m doing as well as she did. Anyone with kids can relte to having to keep things organized, which is a task all on it’s own. Ty’s got babsketball games, and his homework is almost too hard for me. I obviously am not smarter than a sixth grader. Daelen is pretty good at keeping track of her things and when they need to be done. Charity is still little and want to play instead of doing chores, but she does the job when you light a fire under her butt. And Shylo, my sweet little love. I don’t know what I’d do without her soft little kisses and bear hugs around the neck. She truely brightens my day with purity and love.

The true test was last night. It was the first night since school started that dad wasn’t here to help. He had a meeting, so it was up to mom to get everything finished. And it was the finale of America’s Got Talent , which is the only show I remain faithfull to. So everyone got their homework done, supper in their bellies, a little outside play with Bobby and Christian, and washed and in bed by nine. Huh….. I didn’t even have to scream until almost peeing my pants. We got it done and I felt accomplished for the day. Props to all the moms out there. It is the hardest job in the world. Just keeping up with housework, homework, and meals is crazy. Plus raising your kids, and hoping they don’t turn out to be serial killers.  Thanks mom, for your example. I needed it.
